LOOK UP!

I have never visited the Cathedral of Notre Dame,  but I can somewhat feel for the people of France. That iconic structure holds so many personal and historical perspectives, memories and hopes.  800 years of stories; early ones (I would suspect) wrought with controversy and danger and later stories filled with love and pride all laced with cultural significance. Yes, we can rejoice that no one was hurt, the structure saved and repairs possible.  I am awed by the collective world-wide response. Let this be a reminder of how important it is to let our past guide us both in the present and in the future. Big ideas and cultural symbols matter!

And so Cathedral of Notre Dame, I am looking up lately.  In a world where we are driven by what comes next, you have made me pause and LOOK UP and see what might be surprising and special about some iconic structures in my dear city.  I have been thinking about how long I have passed by these places without giving them a single thought … just living in the NOW. Today I paused, and wondered about the controversy, danger, love and pride that interlace our baby-buildings right here in Auburn, NY.  Merci CND

(Siblings, below are some photos of Auburn.  Can you guess the building - name or locations? See how many you know.  Non-Auburn Ringwoods - let’s see who can guess correctly! Next month I will return to this site and each photo will be identified. Share: Do you have a favorite iconic structure? Look up and snap a photo.  Send as an attachment to me and I will post.)
