Musical Memories - Nancy

Ok I am on my deserted island with my fingers crossed that I can find an electrical outlet to play my only album. Actually, as I write this, I am ready for some tropical weather after this long cold winter. Picking this album is very difficult! So what are my favorites, I have narrowed them down to these few:

Moody Blues “On the Threshold of A Dream” 1969

Beatles  “Beatles 65”

Rita Coolidge “Rita Coolidge”1971

“Hair” from the Broadway musical 1968

Crosby Still Nash & Young “Deja Vue” 1970

Yes “Fragile” 1971

Grand Funk Railroad “Closer To Home” 1970

Procol Harum “Whiter Shade of Pale” 1967

Sonny and Cher “Look at Us” 1965

Rolling Stones “Through the Past Darkly”1969

I cannot decide, they are all winners and I have not include my 45s, CDs (Bare Naked Ladies, Adele, and Faith Hill to name a few) and 8 tracks, but that is another story.

All of these albums reflect transitioning from High school to College and all are important in my life.  I was telling Mike the other day, a true story. As I was going back to St. Francis on a bus, we had a short layover in Scranton at night.  I got off the bus by myself searching to find a record store to buy a new album with money Dad gave to me just before getting on the bus. You could say I was living dangerously that evening.  I did find a store and bought a Grand Funk Railroad album.

I am finally ready to reveal my choice and my selection is..................HAIR! Why did I choose this album? It expresses the “rebel” in me and I took great pride that Summer that I knew every single word of every single song!

This has been fun, caused me to pause and look at my very large stack of albums. I still love that feeling of the vinyl in my hands and the delicate touch needed so as not to scratch the album.
